i-top Tool: Tips for Tool Maintenance

For all of the i-top users (or future users) out there, we wanted to offer you some very important tool maintenance tips that will keep your tool working in tip top shape. Many times when you can't get a brad to work, it's because of the following three issues with the tool.
Click on the full-color image above and print out for easy reference.

1. Tighten Heads Before Use: Tighten the pink rubber heads with a simple twist BEFORE you begin...every time! The heads will not line up correctly if they're not tight...and when using the tool you might accidentally move the heads and not realize that you've loosen them.

2. Position Pink Rubber Heads: Often the small rubber head gets pushed down when removing the brad and needs to be repositioned, or pulled out into place. Check its placement before starting. If you find that your rubber heads are defective (torn, broken) please contact our customer service for a replacement.

3. Tighten Top Screws with Allen Wrench: The top screws on both sides of the tool can become loose with use or when being transported. We recommend that you use a 3mm Allen Wrench to tighten those screws periodically. But do not tighten them too tight or you will not be able to rotate the heads.

Now you are an i-top pro and should able to create many, many more brads, magnets, badges and buttons...maybe even more ideas we're creating!! If you have questions or concerns about your tool, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service by phone or email (contact@imaginisce.com).

Want to be a WINNER? Well you're all winners, but if you leave a comment on today's post about WHICH of the 3 tips you found the most helpful and you could win Imaginisce goody box!!

Great tips! My fave was TIP #3:Tighten Top Screws with Allen Wrench because knowing me if i did think to tighten them i would do it too tight, but this tip lets me know just what to do!

I found the "tighten heads before use" very helpful...a great tip!!!

i would say # 1 also...when traveling with the tool it seems to get jarred about. it helps to put it in sync before starting a project or it doesn't line up right. I don't have one of the tools ...yet, I have tried a girlfriend's and love it ! Looks great on my projects.

Amy said...

I like them all! I find #3 to be the most helpful! Thanks so much for making it easier for us to use our tool and to be proactive about letting us know before the problem happens. I appreciate you guys!

I found the "tighten the heads before use" very helpful. i have found that traveling with the tool jars it out of place at times. it helps to line it all back up before starting of I tend to mess up the buttons.

neodreamer said...

The first tip - a little bit of simple maintenance will keep the tool in tip top shape :)

Heather said...

They are all great tips! I think #1 is definitely the most helpful.

Thebug415 said...

I am torn between #2 and #1 as to which is most helpful. I sometimes forget to fix the rubber from the previous brad. Thanks for the tips...I love my I-Top

Michelle said...

#3 is the most helpful. I have discovered the other two (although it is nice to know you can call if my rubber heads crack or break). It is nice to know the size of the allen wrench before I go through the trial and error of finding one that fits. Thanks!

Jamie Simms said...

I found tip #1 to be most useful. I wouldn't think to do that before use and then I just get frustrated that it wouldn't work right. Thanks for the tips!! I love my tool!

Heather said...

For me, tightening the heads before use is probably the best tip, as that one can happen so easily. They are all great tips. Thanks you so much :)

labsuper said...

I would have to say tip #1 is the best.

Great tips! Thanks for passing this along!

pdrnc said...

I like tip #1. I found it out on my own when I first got my i-top. Glad to have the other 2 tips also.

marcibun said...

I think tip #2 about repositioning the rubber tips was most helpful, that's something that I would forget to do.

Chelle said...

I would think #1 would be the best..a tip that you can use each time.

Bobbi said...

Tip #1 was the most helpful.

fAirYsWorKsHoP said...

thanks! very usefull!

Colleen said...

I didn't know about using the Allen wrench, so I find that to be the most helpful. Kind of thought that tip 1 and 2 were commonsense.

Cindy said...

#2 was most helpful to me.

Leah said...

I found #1 to be the most helpful, as I had to figure it out the hard way when I first got mine. Thanks!

Mary K said...

I like all of them. I would not have known to tighten them. Thanks for sharing these tips.

This is the kind of advice you can never find but makes such a difference. Thanks for posting.

Ok all of the tips are great but #1 is the best tip.

All 3 tips will make for a better finished project; however, tip #1 is probably the most important because it has to do with each use and will need to be employed with each project.

I found tip #3pretty useful. Many items come with those little wrenches and I toss them into a drawer and never think about them. You've showed how inportant it is to keep and USE them.
